Twinkl is an awesome website with LOADS of printable resources There are over 68,000 items available on this website, which has worksheet printables, behavior charts, activities, and so much more. We were SO impressed by the sheer amount of available topics and resources.
There are free downloads available on the website, but with an upgrade to a Premium subscription you are given access to the entire website's contents. With just a click of a button, you can download anything from nursery rhyme sequencing cards, to role playing sheets. (For everything from a smoothie bar to a bakery... seriously, there is so much to choose from on this website!) You would then print the sheets on your computer and you're good to go...Ready for educational play at home.
We were immediately drawn to the parenting topics, where there were so many choices for fun activities. I printed off these awesome playdoh mats. I had the kids color them in (you can print in color or black and white, but I knew my kids would have more fun coloring the sheets in first). Then, I covered the front of the sheets in contact paper.
Big Sister and Little Guy had a blast making the letters on the sheets. We used our homemade grape Kool-Aide scented playdoh (future post???) This was so great for working on letter formation and especially those tricky letters that look alike (b and d). Big Sister loved this one!
Being an OT, I also loved the handwriting worksheets...Twinkl has pages for letter formation, Line awareness, spacing...I knew my kids would like doing these pencil control sheets.
There is a cutting skills activity on Twinkle that the kids loved too, they had to cut out different sized shapes and then glue them in order of largest to smallest. Big Sister is pretty good at cutting shapes, so she did that part, and Little Guy loved the gluing and sorting side of it. What's neat about Twinkl, is that you can apply the resources in whatever way works bet for your kiddo. You can use the activities and tweak them to fit your plan to learn at home...Little Guy made his shapes into a mountain.
I am looking forward to using the Advent Calendar found on Twinkl website. This was as much fun for me as it will be for the kids! I found myself enjoying coloring all the squares...probably a little too much! This Advent Calendar is nice because you can personalize it by putting special messages behind each door. I decided to put little crafts or special things we would do that day. I am looking forward to doing this one with my 4 year old.
Another great part of the parenting section of their website is that it is not only for school. There are at-home behavior charts like this one that are so easy to just print off and hang on the fridge. My daughter had fun deciding what she thought would be a good reward at the end of the week...she is a girly girl and picked a necklace.
